Request

Good Afternoon:

We received the following request:

Richard & Phylis Laird  ~~~~~

I just received a phone call from Phyllis Laird.  She and her husband Richard have lived in Perryton for many years and prior to that in Spearman.  They are in desperate need of prayer and hopefully, some Good Samaritan acts from the Body of Christ.

A couple of years ago their home was nearly destroyed by a grease fire.  Richard was the only one home and suffered only minor injuries.  In the mean time Phyllis has developed heart problems and is on many medications due to her condition.  During the past four months Richard has been hospitalized five times.  He had a knee replacement that caused a pulmonary embolism, has had a heart attack, and the latest episode he was in OGH for about a week with pneumonia and was only home for a matter of a few hours when he became ill.  Phyllis was caring for him, and at first the paramedics thought it was another heart attack...he has now had nine units of blood since he was air-lifted to Amarillo.  They have found two bleeding ulcers - the one is his duodenum had ulcerated to the point that it had to be "clamped off" to keep it from progressing into a main artery.

During the midst of this latest medical emergency, they received a letter from Chapparral Energy which was Richard's employer stating that due to the excessive amount of sick time he has had to take he no longer has employment with their company.  They did pay him for his remaining week of vacation time.  For them to continue insurance coverage with the company's insurance will cost $1500.00/month.  There is no income.  There is no money as they were recovering from the house fire and all of the additional costs that brought to them.

So...in addition to prayers for healing they are in dire need of financial or housing assistance so that Phyllis can stay in Amarillo with Richard.  She is having to drive back and forth and thankfully a relative was able to give some money to help with expenses - but this money is already gone.  There has got to be someone that knows someone that has a place for her to stay for the next few days...weeks, that Richard is in ICU.

One of the many things that I love about Perryton is how we all reach out to help our own in difficult times and this family is surely in the midst of difficult times.  Anyone wanting to donate or that might have a place that Phyllis can stay IN ADDITION TO PRAYER can contact her at 202-3370.  God bless you all and your prayerful consideration.
